The Edo State Police command has arrested three persons, suspected to be armed robbers, on Uwa Street, in Oredo local government area of the state.
The trio, identified as Samson Obi, Terry Ekokota and Esther James, were arrested by the command at their hideout, following a tip-off.
According the statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joseph Edoigiawerie, a search conducted on them led to the recovery of two locally made guns, two live cartridges and some charms from the sustects.
The suspected robbers were also said to have confessed that they were planning an operation before they were apprehended.
Meanwhile, the command has recovered one locally made single-barrel gun, 13 live cartridges, one army camouflage cap and three wraps of weeds, suspected to be Indian hemp, from the vehicle of two fleeing suspects.
The suspects, both male, were said to have abandoned the car on siting some officers of the command, who were on a routine patrol in Oluku, the state capital.
While appreciating the public for providing useful information to the command, he however, noted that efforts are in progress to fish out the fleeing suspects.
