Jonathan vows to end terrorism


•Tasks security agencies over Abuja



President Goodluck Jonathan has vowed that his administration would do everything possible to overcome terrorism in the country. The President made the statement yesterday during a visit to the scene of the bomb blast which occurred at Nyanya Motor Park, located in the suburb of Abuja on Monday. Jonathan who was accompanied by the Senate President, Senator David Mark and other top government officials expressed sadness and shock over the incident.
The President who wore a sad look while inspecting the scene extended his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. He said the issue of Boko Haram was temporary and that the Federal Government was doing everything possible to overcome the menace.
He said, “You can see that I am here with the Senate President, David Mark and Chairman of PDP, Ministers, Chief of Defence Staff as well as Service Chiefs, and other very senior government functionaries. Let us collectively express our condolences to the families of those who suffered directly from the incident.”
The president said. “I am also commending security services for their prompt action. Though we lost quite a number of people, we condole with our countrymen and women. We will continue to work very hard.” “The issue of Boko Haram is temporary.
He said if people are observant and are security conscious, the incidents of attacks will be reduced. The President later visited some of the victims who are receiving treatment at the Asokoro General Hospital.
He was conducted round the emergency ward of the hospital by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Abubakar Adamu where the president directed the hospital management to offer adequate medical attention t the injured.
Meanwhile, the president has ordered security agencies in the country to tighten security in Abuja. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati made this known while speaking to journalists yesterday.
