Kogi State Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a blind man, Ezekiel Yerima with 22.8 kilograms of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
The state commander of NDLEA, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Bello, while parading the suspects, said Kunle Awogbemila, a 300 level student of Kogi State University, Anyigba, was also arrested with 89.3 kilograms of the substance.
He said Ezekiel Yerima was earlier arrested for the illicit drug, tried and granted bail on health ground, but was re-arrested with the substance along Auchi-Okene road.
He said the command has seized a total of 277.452 kilograms of Indian hemp between the 1st of January and now.
He said it is worrisome that an undergraduate student who is expected to be in school is involved in such an act.
The commander said in another encounter, the command intercepted a vehicle with 15 bags of Indian hemp at Okengwe in Okene Local Government Area of the state.
He stated the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.
Speaking to newsmen, the student, Kunle Awogbamila said he was taking the drugs to Anyingba to sell so that he would use the proceeds to pay his school fees.
