It is not every day that doctors remove a live leech from the throat of a patient who was thought to have just an ordinary cold.
First the seven-year-old Chinese girl had a throat pain, but later it became hard for her to breathe.
She was rushed to the hospital by parents, where medics eventually discovered she had a 5cm long worm in her windpipe.
According to the doctors' version the breathing problems started when the leech had probably grown in size in the girl’s throat after sucking on her blood.
