Police nab robbery suspect in Enugu

The Police in Enugu State say they have nabbed “a notorious’’ armed robbery suspect, one Tochukwu Azume.
The police Public Relations Officer (PRO), in the state, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, said Azume was arrested on Feb. 26 for armed robbery at Iva valley.

“He specialises in dispossessing residents of Iva Valley, a suburb of Enugu, of their valuables, at gun point.
“The suspect and his gang terrorise inhabitants of Iva Valley in Enugu by laying siege on the road with guns and other dangerous weapons.
Amaraizu added that the suspect was arrested with a serious gunshot wound after opening fire on police operatives in his escape bid.
Amaraizu said police operatives arrested the suspect with the assistance of watch men and residents and taken to hospital where he had been responding to treatment.
The spokesman said locally made double barrel pistol with live ammunition and two expended ammunition were recovered from the suspect. (NAN)
