Manchester United manager David Moyes, was full of praise for midfielder Juan Mata, after the Spanish playmaker put up an inspired performance as they defeated Newcastle 4-0.
Mata scored the first two goals and set up Adnan Januzaj for the last goal, as United cruised to victory at St James’ Park.
Moyes said: “I think Juan Mata has played really well and I think he has made us better. He hasn’t had the goals in the earlier games, but I really thought he played fine in the games.
“Recently he has [also] started the get the goals and, more importantly, assists as well. Over the last few seasons in the Premier League, Juan Mata is one of the best assist-makers and he has always got himself a good tally of goals.
The win took United to sixth place, but former Everton boss refused to be drawn on the possibility of the club playing in the Europa League next season.
He said: “The job I would like to do is finish as high up the table as we can. I don’t know where it’s going to be, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I want to try to keep winning the games and see where we end up.
“If we get into that situation, then we can make a call on it.”
