Indian police have arrested two youths for allegedly sexually molesting two French women tourists in Rajasthan, a senior police official, said on Thursday.
The officer, who preferred anonymity, said that the two accused posed as tourist guides and molested the two French women on Wednesday after taking the victims to an isolated place at the historic Mandore Garden in the state’s Jodhpur city.
Xinhua reports that the two were arrested after the two women shouted and alerted others.
It said the two accused have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian law, stressing that sexual assaults on foreign tourists are common in India.
It recalled that last month, a Danish woman tourist was gang raped by some eight men whom she had approached after losing her way back to a hotel in the Indian capital while another Swiss woman was also gang raped.
